GOTiHe: 3 Ways to Let Your Mind Flow (Part 3)
GOTiHe: 3 Simple Ways to Let Your Mind Flow – Meditate (Part 3 of 3)
Part 3 - Meditate: MindFlow + AirFlow = ZenFlow
Meditate: You live with yourself every day of your entire life, but the reality is most of us don’t spend enough quality time with ourselves to really get to know who we truly are. MindFlow + AirFlow = ZenFlow
ZenFlow is getting to know your inner-self better through music and meditation to limit outer-self influence.
The phrase “Know Thy Self”, which originated in ancient Egypt (Kemet) about 3,000 BC, was praised by many well-known philosophers including Socrates as well as Plato, who later received his education in Egypt (Kemet). “Know Thy Self” isn’t simply about knowing what colors you like or what your favorite food is; it is also about understanding the inner you, finding your purpose, what your fears are, the causes of those fears, how to overcome them, how you deal with problems, what you are grateful for, and an endless list of things about yourself that you can only learn if you go within. Many of the greatest civilizations looked upon this phrase with high esteem, and fully believed that a person cannot know anything of significance outside of themselves, if they don’t know who they are inside.
With all of the noise and distractions surrounding us vying for our attention, including marketing brain hacks used to persuade our thoughts, we can easily become separated from ourselves and not realize it. Most of us have a natural self and an adaptive self, meaning our behaviors and personalities adapt to our environment, culture and circumstance which often pushes us to create a separate persona that doesn’t fully reflect who we are internally. Meditation can help keep us grounded and focused when the whirlwind of everyday life tries to blow us in all directions.
For example:
A loud speaking person would tend to speak quietly while visiting the library as it is customary to be quiet. While at the library, the loud speaking person would most likely alter their behavior and speak quietly until they exited the library, which is considered an environmental and customary adaptation to their persona. This can be labeled library persona. However, if that same person worked at the library, they may eventually become a quiet speaking person even outside of the library. This is because they’ve adapted to the environment for a prolonged period of time and thus gradually transformed themselves into a quiet person without realizing it.
These seemingly minor adaptations over a prolonged period of time may have an impact on your thoughts and sense of self that can transform a loud speaking person into a quiet speaking person without their knowledge.
Meditation can hone one’s sense of self awareness and help identify these subtle distractions that can slowly alter our persona. These adaptations can become habits and ultimately change our behavior, which is the main goal of habit forming and can be good or bad. Good habits are deliberate conscious decisions we use to modify the environment, behaviors, and/or circumstances to affect a positive change or correction in ourselves. Affirmations also fall into this category and are another powerful tool to use with ZenFlow.
Without spending time with your-inner self, you can easily drift towards the influence of others around you. Sometimes, we need to close our eyes and quiet our mind in order to hear our true self.
First, think of the most important person on earth that you would love to spend time with and get to know better. Now, open your calendar and schedule time for this very important person. Who did you choose? Regardless of who you chose the answer is YOU. That’s right, YOU! You are the most important person in the world and spending time within is the greatest contribution you can give to everyone and everything around you. When you are grounded and balanced then it impacts everyone around you in a positive way.
I challenge you to take the 6-minute ZenFlow Challenge and get to know yourself better using the 6-minute ZenFlow meditation.
You live with yourself your entire life, but in reality, we don’t get to spend enough time with our inner selves to really get to know who we are. With all of the outside noise and distractions surrounding us we can easily become separated from ourselves and not realize it. Before you know it, you become who the outer-self and influencers tell you to be. Sometimes, we need to close our eyes and quiet our mind in order to hear our true inner self.
Close your eyes and relax in a quiet place even if only for a few minutes. Then let go and let your mind flow.
Meditation is the journey to self-knowledge and comes in many different forms and practices. There is no correct way to meditate as it is solely based on the individual self, but it is good to try many different forms to find which works best for you. In this article, we are going to focus on meditating to the Mind Flow song with the goal of using it as a powerful 6-minute exercise that we can incorporate into our daily activities and morning and night routines.

ZenFlow - Acknowledgement Meditation:
Close your eyes and imagine you are walking along a beautiful forest next to a gentle river. Listen to the sounds of the river as it flows past you. Hear the songs of the birds as they chirp happily filling the air with positive energy and vibrations. See yourself resting against a majestic tree with rose petals scattered around its base. Feel the life-giving energy from the great tree and rest your mind as you sit with your back against it looking towards the serene river landscape. Look up at the trees and admire its arms full of lush leaves cover you with shade. Notice how the arms stretch as they reach towards the warm and energy giving sunlight.
Now feel the connection to everything around you, as you are one with the tree, the earth, the river, and the sky. All of these are in you. The river flows through your veins. The tree’s wisdom is shaped like the brain and spinal cord as it roots into your body, which is the earth. Our lungs filter the sky’s air. We are never alone, even in solitude, as we are not only one but many, and inside us are trillions of cells, all happily working in harmony while under our constant care.
Any thoughts that you are experiencing, acknowledge them even if they are negative, knowing everything in existence has two sides. In between both sides, rests the center which we will call balance or zero. The GOTiHe is the manifestation of both sides of ourselves and in order to achieve balance we must recognize and acknowledge both sides. Balance or 0 is both negative and positive simultaneously. Out of nothing comes everything good or bad. Both -1 (negative) and +1 (positive) start from 0 (balance).
Any thoughts that you are experiencing that are negative, acknowledge them along with their experience, but don’t hold on to them. When you are done acknowledging and addressing the thoughts, look down and place them in one of the rose petals that are lying before you. Slowly and gently wrap the negative thought in the petal of your choice and place the wrapped petal onto the surface of the river and let go. Now, rest your mind as you watch the negative thought peacefully drift away from you. Watch as the negative thought gets smaller as it goes down the river. The further it goes down river, the smaller it is in your mind until you can no longer see it. Acknowledge that you have released this negative thought and that it is no longer a part of you. Feel the positive energy grow. When you release negativity, you are at the same time increasing positivity. Continue to rest your mind and celebrate your strength and wisdom gained by letting go of the negative thought. Feel your mind and spirit grow as you move towards balance. Know and understand that this process of pruning our minds is a lifelong journey towards balance. “Thoughts in our mind are like leaves on a plant, when they are no longer healthy, we prune them to allow new growth.” - Bernard Hardy
These exercises can be done anywhere you are as long as you are in a safe place that you can close your eyes. I would take the express bus from New Jersey into New York City and use noise cancelling headphones. I was able to relax and achieve Mind Flow.
Note: Noise cancelling headphones provide a great experience if you’re in a noisy environment.
Reminder: When done, don’t forget to turn off “Do Not Disturb” mode)
Check out this verse from my Believe 2 Achieve song.
